Course Description

To up skill learners who have already achieved competency in two dimensional computer aided draughting and design (2D CAD) in the application of three dimensional design (3D CAD) and solid modeling in their chosen profession including; Architecture, Structural Engineering, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, Carpentry & Joinery.

This course is ideal for those who have achieved certification in and wish to progress from two dimensional computer aided draughting and design or for those with relevant industry experience in two dimensional computer aided design who wish to develop their skills into the area of three dimensional design and solid modeling.

Course Content

Using AutoCAD software you will learn how to create, edit and view 3D surface and solid models for the engineering and construction sectors using AutoCAD software.

Entry Requirements

  • Applicants must have reached the current statutory school leaving age
  • It is essential that candidates have a City & Guilds Level 3 (or its equivalent) in two dimensional computer aided draughting and design or that they have equivalent relevant industry experience in the application and modification of two dimensional computer aided draughting and design in sectors including: Architecture Structural Engineering Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Industrial Design Interior Design Landscape Architecture Carpentry & Joinery
  • Good spatial aptitude and good form perception are essential as are good numerical and literacy skills
  • Previous relevant technical design or manual draughting experience is essential. Clients must be fully competent in the use of 2D computer aided draughting and design software to attend this programme. Competency in performing conventional draughting tasks is essential.
